About Department

Electrical and Electronics Department started in the year 1997 with an intake of 60 students. The Department is Accredited with the National Board of Accreditation.Every academic year 10% students of the sanctioned intake, are joining as later entry directly in second year. The Department has highly qualified, experienced and well-motivated faculty with 2 doctorates. The technical supporting staff of department are well qualified and highly trained. The department has students association named: KESA [KITS Electrical Students Association] to provide platform for students to develop overall personality by participating in co-curricular, extra-curricular activities. Students are also participating in games & sports on regular basis and also winning prizes. Students are motivated to take part in Hackathons, paper presentations and Quizzes at the Institute level and inter-institutes students’ symposiums in technical, cultural events. The department has strong Industry-Institute interaction to give exposure to students about the industry practices. The department organizes industry visits to nearby substations, electrical manufacturing companies and power plants which include NTPC, Ramagundam, KTPP Bupalpally NPDCL,SPDCL and few hydel power plants. Alumni of the department are working in both core and software industries such as NTPC, TRANSOs, GENCOs, transformers manufacturing companies, OBLUM Electrical Indrustries Pvt Ltd Hyderabad, Roamanix Company,Keolis Company,HITACHI Co, MEDHA Servo Drives Pvt.Ltd. Novus Green Energy Systems, India, TCS, Infosys, TECH Mahindra and WIPRO etc. KITS College is the Best EEE Engineering College in Karimnagar,Telangana.

PO1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

The laboratories are well equipped with modern equipment such as PLC trainer, latest machines,C.T.Testing kit etc. to impart practical training to students.

We have an exclusive departmental computer centre with 30 systems loaded with softwares like MATLAB, PSPICE.

The Department has its own library with books, CDs and video cassettes of NPTEL lectures.

All the Electric laboratories are Provided with Safety Insulation mats.

  • Electrical & Electronics Engineering students have started their association in the year 2001 by the name KITS ELECTRICAL STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION(KESA) with an intention to tap the hidden talents in students and also to organize various events.
  • KESA has organized expert lectures by eminent persons from academic and industry like Prof. NDR Sarma, IIIT Hyderabad, Mr. A. K. De Bhowmick, Dy. Gen. Manager, Northern Power Grid PGCIL, New Delhi, Prof. M Sydulu, NIT Warangal etc.
  • The Department has organized number of industrial visits for our students to KTPS, Kothagudem, NTPC- STPS, Ramagundam, CPRI, Bangalore, Srisailam Hydro Power Plant, Vizag Steel Plant, 400KV/220KV Substation, Ghajuvaka, Mysore Electric Company Bangalore.
  • The Department has organized industrial training in NTPC- STPS, Ramagundam, APTRANSCO-Corporate Training Institute, Hyderabad, BHEL, Hyderabad, ECIL, Hyderabad.
  • KESA organizes various events like Aptitude test, paper presentations, technical test, group discussions and mock interviews etc for the benefit of the students.
  • ENIGMA A Paper presentation competition was organized by students and Guest Lecture on Power Electronic Devices by Dr.N.Vishwanadhan NIT, was delivered as part of it on 11th Feb 2009.
  • Prof. M. Sydulu of NIT, Warangal was the chief guest for KESA Inaugural on 18th July 2009. He delivered an expert lecture on "Oppurtunities for Electrical Engineering Graduates".
  • For the inauguration of KESA activities for the academic year 2010-2011 on 7.8.2010 Dr. D.M. Vinod Kumar , Prof. in EED, NIT(W) and Dean academic affairs was the chief guest and he and he delivered an expert lecture on (i)Artificial Neural Networks and (ii)Deregulation of power system.
  • For the inauguration of KESA activities for the academic year 2012-2013 on 21st Jul 2012 Prof. K.Prakash,Principal of Vaagdevi Engineering College was the chief guest and he delivered an expert lecture on "Application of Ant colony algorithm to optimazation technique of capacitor placement in Electrical distribution systems".
  • As a part of industrial visit, 09 Batch EEE students visited NTPC, Ramagundam on 18.08.2012.
  • For the inauguration of KESA activities for the academic year 2013-2014 on 18 and 19th Jul 2013 by Dr M.K.S Shastry, Senior Member IEEE (USA); Member, IET (UK); Member IE (India); EIT, APEGS (Canada); a registered engineer in Trinidad & working as lecturer and Postgraduate Coordinator, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of the West Indies, was the chief guest and he delivered an expert lecture on “IT Applications in Electrical Engineering” for the benefit of students & Staff of Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
  • As a part of industrial visit, 10 Batch EEE students visited KTPP, Bhupalpally on 8 march 2013.
  • As a part of industrial visit, 10 Batch EEE students visited Kesoram Cement Factory at Basanthnagar on 25 july 2013.

Short Term Courses / Conferences Conducted By The Department:

  • 5 days short term course on "Applications of PSPICE & SIMULINK" for Electrical & Electronic Engineering faculty.
  • 3 days work shop (27th to 29th June 2008) on "Developments in testing and Maintenance of Electrical Equipment".
  • On 19th & 20th Feb.2010 a 2 day work shop on "Recent Advances and Applications of power Electronics" was organized for the benefit of faculty of engineering colleges & students of final year EEE.
  • National Conference on "Recent Trends and Practices in Electrical Engineering- Future Prospects and Challenges".(RT-PEEP-2011) was organized on18th & 19th March 2011 This event was sponsored by NTPC Ramagundam, Wineyard Technologies Hyderabad and Poineer Electronic Hyderabad. Media Partners: allconferences.com, www.attendconference.com From Andhra Pradesh and surrounding states like Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Chattisgarh, Pondichery, Tamilnadu, around 85 papers from faculty members of various engineering colleges, M.Tech students and Industry persons were received. Out of these 85 papers, Technical Committee selected 62 papers.Out of these 62 papers 56 authors registered as delegates and presented their papers. For inauguration of this conference, Chief Guest was Dr.G.Tulasi Das Ram Registrar , JNTU Hyderabad . And Guest of honor was Dr. V.Kamaraju, retired Principal of JNTU Kakinada and presently HODEEE , MIST Bandalgada, Hyderabad . He delivered on invited expert lecture on "developments in HVDC in India". He also chaired 1st Technical paper presentation session on 18th March 2011.
  • 2 day FDP on "CHALLENGES AND ADVANTAGES IN RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES (CARES-2013) from 20-21 SEP 2013.
  • 3 days short term course on "Industrial Automation PLC,SCADA and DRIVES" from 9-11 FEB 2017 . 89 students EEE & ECE attended this program.
  • one week FDP on "CHALLENGES AND ADVANTAGES IN RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES (CARES-2017) FROM 6-11 NOV 2017.
  • On 23rd & 24th Feb.2018 a 2 day work shop on "Fabrication practise of solar panels" was organized for the benefit of students of third & final year EEE ,ECE(86 students participated) .
  • On 4th & 5th May.2018 a 2 day work shop on "Fabrication practise of solar panels" was organized in collaboration with E2E technologies Pvt.Ltd Hyderabadfor the benefit of Faculty EEE and ME dept(28 faculty members participated) .
  • A 3 day work shop (5th to 27th October 2018) on "Industrial automation PLC and SCADA" training in association with Prolific Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Hyderabad was organised for the benefit of III & IV year students (120 students participated)
  • 7 students from III & IV year visited BHEL, Varanasi on 5th January 2018 as part of Industrial Tour.
  • National Seminar on "Technological Advancement in Man-made Appliances of Rural Area" (TAMAR) - INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY VARANASI from January 4th - 6th, 2019, A national paper presentation contest was attended by 12 students.
  • A students' National conference on "Innovations in Engineering and Technology (NC-IET -19) conducted on 25 March 2019. 60 students participated
